Printing and Folding Instructions
Paper and Ink Recommendations
The materials on this website are designed to be printed on 8-1/2” X 11” paper. You will be using both sides. You should use 24 pound white paper, so that the ink doesn't show through the other side. If you use colored paper, you shouldn't have that problem, so you can use 20 pound colored paper. Both white and colored printing paper can be purchased in an office supply store such as Staples.
Colored ink on white paper is more impressive, but the extra cost may not be practical for you; in which case you might choose to use black ink. You also have the option of using colored paper, which you might decide to use for the gospel tracts if you are using black ink rather than color ink.
Step-by-Step Printing Instructions
Make your document, guide, and gospel tract selection(s) on this website by clicking “Download File.” Next, click on the download icon to save the file(s) to your computer. When printing, keep in mind that printer settings vary from one printer to another, but here are the general instructions for printing:
1. Open the file so that you can see it on your computer monitor/screen.
2. Open your printer settings by clicking on the printer icon, or type Ctrl (control) + P.
3. Click on “preferences” or “properties.”
4. For documents or guides, select “portrait” in the orientation section. For gospel tracts, select “landscape” in the orientation section.
5. In the duplex/booklet section, change “none” to “duplex.”
6. Next, click on “duplex settings.”
7. Select the duplex type. The best setting is usually “flip on left edge” or “flip on right edge.” (When you are ready to print, you can first print a copy or two to make sure that you are using the correct duplex type. The goal is to make sure that the two sides of the printed paper are not upside-down. If you have this problem, select a different duplex type.)
8. Next, click “OK.”
9. Then click “OK” again.
10. Enter the amount of copies you want to make.
11. Click “print.”
In the case of gospel tracts, once printed and folded, the cover and page numbers will appear in logical order.
Folding Tips for Gospel Tracts
Fold each gospel tract into sections, using the gospel tract cover page and the page numbers as a guide. The tracts with the cover plus 3 pages should be folded in half. The tracts with the cover plus 5 pages should be folded into three sections. You can fold the gospel tracts by hand, by machine, or pay your local printer to fold them.
You are permitted to print and distribute as many copies as you like. There is no limit! If your church is interested, you can get them involved too!
